It‘s no surprise that we are a dog family. I love animals, and I would probably have 10 dogs if Matt would let me. Thank goodness for Matt that he keeps me a sane person. We don’t have 10 dogs, but we do have 3. We rescue dogs, and all our newest dog we rescued when they were 6 months to a year. Even though we adopted them in the later stages of being a puppy, they still display puppy characteristics. Especially when they are breed known to act like puppies well into their adult life.
My favorite dog (don’t tell them I have a favorite), Trooper, is a Lab, and he has ALL the lab characteristics. Trooper is 4 now, but when he was a younger dog, he was a termite. He ate everything in sight. One day Matt and I came home, and he had eaten our couch. Yeah. Full on cushions and wood. The worst. That was a goner.
One piece of furniture Trooper ate during that time period was our bed. Look at the damage he did. Our bed has looked like this for three years. Enough was enough, and it was time for me to fix the mess he created.
How To Repair Wood Furniture Surfaces:
Supplies:
Multi-Tool or Corner Sander (I used the multi-tool)
Course Grit Sand Paper (I used 60-grit)
Fine Grit Sand Paper (I used 120-grit)
Stain to Match Furniture (I used Varathane Dark Walnut)
Directions:
1. Clean surface of the area you need to repair.
2. Sand down area using they course grit sander.
3. Finish the surface using the fine grit sand paper.
4. Using the stain that matches, stain the area you have sanded. Wipe off the stain with a microfiber cloth. Repeat until the area is covered and matches the rest of the furniture piece.
This repair I have been avoiding for 3 years, I fixed in 15 minutes. Next time I won’t be putting off an easy project like this!
Hopefully Trooper won’t be eating through furniture any time soon!
